Our doulas are a community of professionals. When you hire an Emerald City Doula, you hire a team. They are all formally trained and certified/pre-certified doulas who truly believe in the philosophy of non-judgmental physical, educational, and emotional support to parents and families. All doulas have also passed a background check.

We strive to ensure you are supported and cared for – and you can trust that your doula is responsible and knowledgeable. We are proud to serve all of King and lower Snohomish Counties. The support of a certified labor doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, postpartum placenta specialist, sleep training consultant, or massage therapist will help prepare you for the amazing journey of parenthood.

Christi | Co-Founder (she/they)

Christi has been working with and supporting children since 1983, and has worked as a doula since 2013. She has attended over 300 births, and also has two children of their own.

Christi loves helping families as they begin their journey together, and feels it’s an honor and blessing to be allowed to take part in this very private rite of passage. Their gift of intuition allows them to provide comfort and nurturing, even when clients may not always be able to express what they need at the moment.

Non-judgmental support is very important to Christi. Her mission is to empower her clients and to show them that they are capable parents. No matter what birthing options and parenting approaches they choose, these are their decisions and they will receive her full support.

Christi is trained and experienced as both a Birth Doula and a Postpartum Doula. In addition, they’re trained in Postpartum Placenta Encapsulation, Childbirth Education, Acupressure, Rebozo, Spinning Babies, and TENS Unit. Christi can also take non-professional photos at the labors she attends if the clients desire.

Christi is unable to work in homes where people are smoking, or where eucalyptus oil is used in aromatherapy.

When you reach out to Emerald City Doulas, Paula will be the first person you speak to. She’s here to answer all of your questions, and help you find the support you need, with just the right doula.

Paula grew up on a farm in Minnesota, and has been in the Seattle area since 2004. She feels strongly about Emerald City Doulas’ commitment to non judgmental support for all families, and looks forward to speaking with you!

Anne’s calm, patient, and empathetic spirit have been invaluable in her work with children of all ages. Throughout her life she has found ways to work with children, from babysitting, to camp counselor, to teaching children with emotional, behavioral, and learning disabilities for the past 12 years.

She looks forward to offering you a reassuring and encouraging voice as she supports you and your family through this new chapter in your life.

Ernest finds that he forms strong connections with those he supports, and his wish is to help families navigate the struggles and joys of being new parents. His commitment to this work has been strengthened after his own struggles with fertility.

Ernest is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and he loves spending time in nature with his two dogs.

Certified Sleep Consultant, Infant Feeding Educator

Faith sees much of her role as a postpartum doula to be helping families navigate the emotions that come with the transition to parenthood by connecting them with great providers and resources. She enjoys demonstrating newborn care, soothing techniques, and different ways of feeding babies. Faith is an infant feeding educator, and has previous experience as a registered nurse.

As a certified sleep consultant she will work with you to customize a sleep plan that considers your individual needs: your child, your parenting style, and your unique family situation. Rita comes from a medical background, and spends her free time roller skating, knitting, and making the very most of her public library card. She lives at home with her husband and their tiny shih tzu, Stevie.
